Recently I was lucky enough to receive this gorgeous Dark Thorn Clothing dress – it’s so incredibly stunning that I want to wear it all the time! While it looks amazing with heels (outfit posts to come soon, I’m sure), that kind of look is not entirely practical for when Jay and I walk into central London for lunch…so I chose to dress it down with a pair of boots, and I’m pretty pleased with the outcome.
Boots have been my staple footwear for as long as I can remember. But what’s not to love?! They have the comfort factor of trainers, but a little added polish. I like to think that the strapped & studded boots that I picked here add a little grungy twist to this delicate dress. As shown by Saint Laurent during Hedi Slimane’s tenure, boots and pretty dresses work amazingly together – so I thought why not save my feet the trouble? Instead of walking my (potentially over-dressed) self a mile in heels, I could throw on my most reliable boots and happily potter into town in my new dress and an outfit that I love!
Back to this beautiful dress – I am absolutely blown away by the quality of the craftsmanship. The quality is seriously second to none (putting many high end designers to shame, if I were to be brutally honest!) It was handmade in South Australia with a keen attention to detail, as all Dark Thorn Clothing pieces are. Tori-Anne is the sweetest – you can tell that so much love is poured into her work. The stunning final product shows this off; from the design, to the quality of materials & craft, to the packaging – a tissue lined black box, secured with a ribbon and a wax seal – everything is amazing.
(If you get a chance, I’d recommend giving Tori-Anne’s blog a look – specifically the posts about the journey of her label. You can really see everything that has gone into the brand, and to have your own label at 21 (having started it at 18) is just so inspiring! It makes me feel all fuzzy inside to see how well she is doing :3 )
Thanks so much for stopping by – I hope you’re having a great week so far 🙂 love!xxx
