My Ultimate Travel Outfit.

Hello lovely people! This post is going to be structured a little differently than how my blog posts usually look, as I need to explain different bits of the outfit as I go (read on.. it’ll make sense, I promise!)
Recently I was approached by Qantas Airways to take part in their blogger competition to show off my ultimate flight outfit for a long haul flight to Melbourne. The prize is to win a trip to Melbourne to see the ‘The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier’ exhibition (which would be INSANE as I am a huge fan of his work!) – you can find out more about it here if you want to have a bit of a nosey. So this is my entry – a layered outfit I’ve put together to hopefully accommodate the miserable British weather, the long plane journey and then the Australian heat!
The first part of my outfit is for the UK airport, so I’d be wrapped up in my cosy scarf and thick knitted socks to keep me warm while travelling to the airport. I decided to opt for a dress rather than a pair of skinnies as I often find them a bit uncomfortable if I have to wear them for hours – a plane to Australia would definitely pass that comfort limit, especially with the dreaded ‘plane bloating’ (cute!). Flat shoes are a must for travel, I couldn’t manage going through security etc. with heels on, I’d be a total mess! I’d also be taking my backpack to keep all my on-board luggage, which is pretty much the standard travel essentials; documents, money, face wipes, moisturiser (driest skin ever right here), make-up, a good book and my trusty 3DS.

Then, when it’s time to get cosy on the plane, I can whip the scarf off and use it as a blanket because it’s HUGE! (Bonus dorky pics of me showing off the blanket-esque properties of the scarf below!) I can also roll down my socks to mid calf level to keep my toes warm (but also to not restrict my circulation, because I do like having circulation to my toes…haha). As I mentioned before, the dress is floaty so perfect for keeping comfy on a long flight without any restrictive waistbands digging into you!

Finally, for the other side of the journey, I can pack my scarf away in my bag and carry my jacket, ready to head out in the Aussie heat. I could also swap my long socks for shorter ones and pack my thigh-highs away too – the UK isn’t all that warm at the moment so I didn’t show that in the pictures – I would have frozen even more than I did when taking them with just the jacket and the scarf off!

Anyway, this is my ultimate travel outfit -what did you think? And what’s your favourite thing to travel in? Let me know, I’d love to hear what you think!

This outfit is ideal for flying! Can totally see why you wouldn't want to wear skinnies either – not as comfy as a floaty dress especially for hours! Great look, and good luck with the comp! xx
